Why does Client Portal say "You are currently logged in without Trading/Market Data permissions"?

Only one trading session is allowed per username. If you're already logged into a session (e.g. TWS or MEXEM Mobile) and try to start another (e.g. Client Portal), you'll receive a warning. You can manage your account but won't be able to trade. Click "Log in with Trading/Market Data" to enable trading and disconnect the other session.

Why did MEXEM liquidate some of my positions without first notifying me?

MEXEM doesn't make margin calls and implements real-time liquidations for margin deficiencies. It attempts to notify about deficiencies, but swift market movements can prevent this. Check your Excess Liquidity and SMA to ensure margin compliance. Further margin information is available on MEXEM's website and TWS Users' Guide.

What is Limited Option trading permissions?

MEXEM's margin accounts can choose "Limited Option" trading permissions during application. This allows entering orders for specific option strategies. Cash accounts can't have this feature. What does the error message Account May Not Hold Positions: Short Call mean?

Cash Accounts or Limited Option Trading recipients can't hold uncovered short call positions. To upgrade to a margin account, access Account Management > Settings > Account Settings > configure gear icon. Limited Option Trading available with select investment objectives. Turn off Limited Option Trading at Account Management > Settings > Trading Permissions > configure gear icon > uncheck "Limited Option Trading" box for US Options.

What are the limitations of the paper trading account?

Paper trading accounts replicate most TWS features but have limitations including no support for certain order types, limited combo and EFP trading, simulated stops, unsupported penny trading for US options, and no Mutual Fund trading. Traders lacking minimum trading experience can request options trading permissions, but must pass a proficiency exam. If the session times out before exam completion, re-login to Client Gateway and submit a new request to repeat the process.

How can I trade spot metals with MEXEM?

To request spot metals permissions, log in to Client Portal/Account Management. Navigate to Settings -> Account Settings. If you manage multiple accounts, select the relevant one. Click the gear icon next to "Trading Experience & Permissions", expand the "Metals" section, and check the box for "Global". Complete the Experience and Trading Knowledge section, then click CONTINUE. Review your financial information and investment objectives. Note: Spot metals trading is restricted for residents of the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, and Hong Kong. MEXEM offers futures contracts and options trading instead. Spot Platinum is currently unavailable.

CME Direct is a trading system by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for trading on CBOT, CME, COMEX, and NYMEX exchanges. However, MEXEM doesn't support CME Direct due to the lack of pre-trade credit check and compatibility with TWS API.

Can I trade credit option spreads in my account?

To enter an option order, an account needs approved US option trading permissions. Margin accounts can trade naked short calls and option combo spreads with a short call leg. In a margin account, a Bull credit put combo spread is allowed. However, in a Cash account, the short put leg must be fully cash secured. Can I trade Certificates of Deposits (CDs)?

MEXEM offers brokered U.S. Certificates of Deposits (CDs) traded on a secondary market. Unlike bank-purchased CDs, brokered CDs can't be redeemed early but can be sold if a secondary market exists. CD trading requires U.S. Bonds trading permissions. Clients with bond permissions receive a legal disclosure outlining CD trading risks before their first order and periodically thereafter.

Can I trade ETFs through MEXEM?

MEXEM offers direct market access to various financial instruments through a single Universal Account. Clients from most countries can trade ETFs with low or no commissions. To request ETF trading permissions, log in to Client Portal/Account Management and select permissions for Stocks. Some ETFs may require additional permissions for Complex or Leveraged Exchange Traded Products. Compliance with regulations, including PRIIPs Regulation, is necessary.
